Gluteal Augmentation in New Orleans
Surgery has boosted my confidence level and enhanced my self-esteem.
– Real Patient
The gluteus maximus may be one of the largest muscles in your body, but it can be your weakest asset. A shapely buttocks is definitely a current trend, with the Kardashians popularizing full and curvy figures. The size and shape of your buttocks is genetically determined by your bone configuration, deposits of fat, and your gluteus muscle. But that’s the past, so put it behind you, because thanks to gluteal augmentation- also known as a Brazilian Buttocks lift (BBL)- you can have a superior posterior.
The look of your buttocks is primarily the result of two things – the structure of your bones and the amount of fat. Regardless of why you have thin or flat buttocks, plastic surgery can give you the backside that genetics, diet and exercise denied you. And, you have options as how best to achieve what you consider a more desirable silhouette – and none of the body contouring options includes padded undergarments:
Silicone Implants: Perfect for those men and women with little body fat, buttock implants are customizable and hypoallergenic. And, because they’re constructed of a soft, yet solid silicone, they will not break, leak or deflate.
Fat Injections: Also known as fat grafting, liposuction removes adipose (fat) tissue from an area of the body where it already exists in excess – the hips, back, abdomen or arms – and transfers it to the buttocks. Because it’s from you, it’s not only natural, but it’s compatible with your body.
During your initial consultation in our Mandeville office, you can talk with Dr. Cooper about the changes you hope to achieve with buttock implants, fat transfer or both. Dr. Cooper will work with you to determine the approaches to best accomplish your body contouring goals. Dr. Cooper likes to schedule an entire hour to meet each new patient. This allows for a friendly, unhurried atmosphere in which she can provide you with all the information you will need to make educated decisions about buttock augmentation.
Dr. Cooper will ask you about the precise changes you desire and discuss the placement of implants or fat, as well as size, location, and/or injection sites. You will also be informed of the risks and benefits. With this information, you and Dr. Cooper will be able to determine the procedural strategies that will best meet your expectations.
Two weeks prior to your gluteal augmentation, you will meet with Dr. Cooper’s staff, to discuss all preoperative and postoperative instructions, and to confirm the procedural plans previously discussed.
The 2 to 3 hour plastic surgery procedure is usually performed at an outpatient facility under general anesthesia if placing an implant, while liposuction and fat injections can be performed with sedation only. A family member or friend will need to drive you home and provide assistance during the first 24 to 48 hours. You and your caregiver will both be provided with Dr. Cooper’s cell phone number for any concerns or questions. Depending upon your procedure – implants or fat injection – you should expect to return to work approximately two weeks following your treatment, resuming normal activities after about 2 to 4 weeks.
