Breast Enlargement Options

Dr. Cooper truly cares about you as a person; I would recommend her to anyone.
– Real Patient

Careful thought and planning goes into the decision to have breast augmentation in New Orleans, Slidell, and Mandeville. For example, important considerations include the choice of saline or silicone gel implants, implant size, and implant placement. In addition, women may want to consider combining breast augmentation with another breast enhancement procedure. Dr. Michele M. Cooper will help you determine the best implant options for you.

Saline vs. Silicone Implants

We offer our breast augmentation patients a choice of either silicone gel or saline implants, each with their own advantages. Most patients report that silicone gel implants look and feel the most natural. Saline implants are generally less expensive than silicone gel implants, and require smaller incisions for placement have traditionally allowed for smaller incisions. Further, the volume of saline implants can be adjusted during surgery for better symmetry between breasts.

Keller Funnel Logo

The innovative Keller Funnel™ allows women who choose silicone gel implants to benefit from shorter incisions and improved comfort and safety, with faster healing. By using a lubricated funnel, Dr. Cooper can compress the implant through a smaller incision and insert it more precisely. In addition, the Keller Funnel keeps the implant sterile with a "no touch technique." This method reduces the risk of infection while shortening surgical time. Dr. Cooper has been certified to use the Keller Funnel for silicone breast implant augmentation.

MemoryGel® Breast Implants

Dr. Cooper offers MemoryGel® Breast Implants, a type of silicone gel implants that doesn't leak and maintains its shape even when cut or squeezed. The implants produce beautiful results and have a natural feel, which many women prefer for their breast augmentation near New Orleans. Watch this video to learn more.

Implant Placement

Breast augmentation patients have the option of placing the breast implant over or under the pectoralis (chest) muscle. These placement options offer the following benefits:

Submuscular: The implant is placed beneath the pectoralis (chest) muscle and the breast tissue. Although this may require a slightly longer recovery period than subglandular placement, having the implant below the muscle may result in a more natural look and feel. Additionally, the incidence of capsular contracture and rippling has been shown to be lower with this placement approach.

Subglandular: The implant is placed above the muscle but below the breast tissue. Women with thin skin or little breast tissue may not benefit from this approach because of increased visibility, which can show wrinkling and rippling more easily. However, many patients note that an advantage to this placement is a shorter, more comfortable recovery.

Incision Options

Dr. Cooper offers both the inframammary and periareolar incision for her Slidell, Mandeville and New Orleans breast enlargement patients. Incision placement usually depends on type of implant chosen and patient preference.

Inframammary: This incision is created in the fold where the breast meets the ribcage. This is one of the most commonly used incisions because it allows the surgeon easy access to the chest wall. This also allows for either submuscular or subglandular placement of the implant.

Periareolar: The incision is created around the lower portion of the areola. This leaves very little visible scarring and allows the surgeon access to the breast tissue and muscle. The incision site can also be used at a later point in time for future breast surgeries.

Vectra 3D Imaging

Dr. Michele Cooper is now offering Vectra® 3D Imaging, an innovative system that lets you visualize your problem areas and truly customize your cosmetic experience.

Combined Procedures

Some of our breast surgery patients choose to have their augmentation combined with a breast lift for a more comprehensive breast enhancement. Combining these procedures is a popular option particularly for women who have lost fullness or volume in their breasts either due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, significant weight loss or the effects of aging.
