Body Lift in New Orleans

Losing weight is supposed to make you look and feel great and, usually, it does. Unfortunately, too much of a good thing can become a bad thing, for when you lose a lot of weight, skin that's been excessively stretched for a long period of time can loose its elasticity. The result is a sagginess that can make it uncomfortable to wear the clothes you like and difficult to do the things you love. Whether drastic weight loss is the result of a new, healthier lifestyle, to bariatric surgery (gastric bypass), pregnancy or simply part of aging, the men and women of New Orleans have discovered that a body lift can significantly improve their quality of life.
A circumferential body lift removes excess skin from three areas – the abdomen, thighs and buttocks. Additionally, the stomach walls are tightened. Ultimately, up to 15 pounds of skin and fat are removed. With the removal of sagging skin, a body lift can also eliminate the moisture that develops between the folds of skin, which can result in a painful irritation and infection. Due to the complexity of this type of plastic surgery, other procedures are not typically performed along with a body lift. Later, though, many patients opt for a face lift, arm lift, breast lift or thigh lift.
During your initial consultation in our Mandeville office, you can talk with Dr. Cooper about the changes you hope to achieve with plastic surgery, and she will work with you to determine the approaches to best accomplish your cosmetic surgery goals. Dr. Cooper likes to schedule an entire hour to meet each new patient. This provides a friendly, unhurried atmosphere for her to provide you with all the information you will need to make educated decisions about a contouring body lift.
Dr. Cooper will ask you about the physical changes you desire, discuss incision size and location, as well as the risks and benefits associated with a body lift. With this information, you and Dr. Cooper will be able to determine the procedural strategies that will best meet your expectations. While scarring along the belt line can be extensive, it varies by individual.
Two weeks prior to your surgery, you will meet with Dr. Cooper again to discuss all pre- and post-operative instructions, and to confirm the procedural plans previously discussed.
As with post bariatric plastic surgery, a body lift is a serious procedure requiring Dr. Cooper to consider the effects on the entire body, rather than just the obvious areas where skin sags. Therefore, the 4 to 8 hour procedure is performed at a hospital, where you can expect to remain for at least 1 day. A family member or friend will need to drive you home and provide assistance during the first 48 to 72 hours. You and your care giver will both be provided with Dr. Cooper's cell phone number for any concerns or questions. Expect to miss at least 3 weeks of work.
If the fat you lost was replaced by skin that's impossible to lose, a body lift can help. Come see why so many New Orleans, Mandeville and Slidell area men and women trust Dr. Cooper to achieve their most beautifully enhanced selves. To request your body lift consultation contact Dr. Cooper today.
